The Farmer's Wife

Quilt Along part 3

Welcome back!  I hope you are all quilting right along.    Last week I shared with you a way to make easy Hourglass units.  This week I've included an Easy triangle Square short cut for block number 9. Instead of cutting out each little triangle piece and wasting a lot of fabric you start with 2 squares.  I also used my handy dandy little marking ruler to make it go even faster.  And don't forget to share your blocks with us..........the linky is on Week #1

Cajun Spice Mix Recipe

Cajun Spice Mix

Kickin' it up

This Cajun spice mix is perfect for spicing up Gumbo.  It's also good in soup or traditional New Orleans Style Red Beans and Rice.  Just place 3 cups of picked and rinsed red beans in a large crock pot.  Cover with hot water and cook on high for 3 hours.  Then add onion, bell pepper and 1 tablespoon of the Cajun Mix and cook an additional 3 hours.  Salt to taste and serve over cooked(sticky) rice.  This mix also makes an excellent dry rub for meats.  So mix you up a batch and spice up your next meal.........       N'awlins Style!

Peach Pie Cookies

Peach Cookie-Pies

With Sugar-Free option

Here's a simple little cookie recipe that you can make any flavor you like.  It's filled with jam or preserves and surrounded by a tender pie crust. They're light and not to sweet.
You can easily convert this into a diabetic dessert by simply using sugar-free jam or preserves and powdered splenda.  I think these would make wonderful little snacks for a shower or special occasion.

Grab-Button Tutorial

In 4 easy Steps

Having a grab button is a really handy way to share your brand and grow your blog.  If you don't have one yet get ready to be amazed at how fast and easy you can make one.  If you do have one you still might learn a thing or two that you didn't know about buttons and how they work, including how to re-size, center and group them together into one gadget.......

The Farmers Wife

Quilt Along Party Part 1

The Farmers Wife is a quilting book written by Laurie Aaaron Hird.  It's filled with letters from farm wives in the 1920's.  Every few blocks comes with a wonderful letter explaining why they chose to become farmers wives.  As you read their letters you make a block a week or more if you choose.  And when you are done you will have a 83" x 103" sampler quilt with 111 different quilt blocks.  I'd love for you to quilt along with me as I make three blocks a week.  I'm also adding a linky tool so everyone can share their color combinations.

Cream Cheese Banana Puddin'

I love to make Banana Pudding in the summer time.....First because I don't have to sweat over a hot stove to make it and second because it's sooo good!  This recipe takes banana pudding to a whole new level.........with a layer of whipped sweetened cream cheese for an extra bit of richness and instant pudding in keeping it simple......filled with bananas, Nilla Wafers and topped with Cool Whip...... I also love to make them in little individual dessert dishes........just to make this simple easy dessert seem a little more sophisticated.
