Western Turquoise Beaded Bracelet

Jewelry Making

If your looking for an inexpensive yet unique gift to make try this Western inspired bracelet.  It has four different elements wood, metal, stone and leather with a buffalo head nickel button for a clasp.  The following step by step pictorial includes another color option.........and there are no special tools required.  All the supplies are available at you local craft or fabric store.  This project is super easy if you can thread a bead and tie a knot you can make this in about 10 minutes............

Supplies:

38" of 1mm leather cord

7 to 8  square beads

7 to 8  6mm round beads

14 to 16  5mm round beads

1 -5/8"  shank back button

1. Gather up your supplies.
2. Tie the leather cord on half making a loop the will fit over the button.  Then thread on the square bead.
3. On the other cord thread 3 beads.
4. Now take the 2 cords together and tie an over hand knot.
5-6. Repeat making 7 to 8 sets depending on the size bracelet you are making.
7. Thread both cords through the shank of the button and secure with a knot and cut the excess cord.

Note: Different beads will have different sized hole, pick beads with large holes to make threading easier.  Also beware of leather cord sold on a card it says its 1mm but it is very irregular.  The best leather cord is made by TeJas lace co. sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby stores.
