Save Time And Money
This recipe makes baking from scratch a snap. It is super moist and will make the perfect foundation for your favorite frosting. If you'd prefer a yellow cake mix just substitute the regular shortening for butter flavored shortening and you'll have a lovely golden buttery cake.
CMC is in the process of creating several dessert recipes using this mix so stay tuned..........

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I make my own bisquick and a few other things but never thought to do this. Also, the labels - fabulous. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe and label. Have you ever figured out approximately the cost per cake with this recipe?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! You can do so much with this! Thanks for linking up! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI have made my own cake mix before, but my recipe did not call for the shortening in the mix. You just added the butter when you got ready to bake it. It was very good. It was a recipe for 1 cake, not bulk. Why would you need shortening and then add oil when you made it???
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte
DeleteThanks for stopping by I held you comment until I had a minute to answer......This recipe is made to replace the box mix which has shortening in it and requires oil in the recipe on the back of the box...I wanted to make a recipe that could be used in all those recipes that call for a cake mix in them.....I hope this answers your question...and have a wonderful weekend : )
What a great idea! Got a bulk brownie mix recipe?
ReplyDeleteThank you Deana! I love this!!!! XO, Steph.
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT! This would make a great addition to the homemade gift baskets I give out at Christmas. I love it:) Thanks for linking up
ReplyDeleteI still think you need to put all of these in a cookbook! Another great idea!
ReplyDeleteI SO SO need to do this :) thanks for the reminder
ReplyDeleteLinked in from positively splendid. This sounds lovely. How many batches does it make?
ReplyDeleteHi thanks for stoppin' by...this recipe make 16 cups which will make 3 and 1/2 cakes.....I'm working on some recipes that will call for so many cups of this mix in them. And as soon as I get around to making a 9x9" cake I'll post the ingredients for that as well. Thanks again for visiting : )
DeleteI can't wait to make this; I'd love to have this on hand. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love this!!! thanks for sharing on Southern Sundays. Hope to see you again soon!

Staple recipes are so nice. I haven't used a box mix in forever, but then we don't bake that often. I have made bulk pancake mix to have on hand because my husband uses that from time to time. It's much simpler to make your own. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks so yummy! I like how you could add any flavor also. I would love for you to share on my linky party!

This is awesome, I hate spending 10x the ingredient cost on a boxed mix Icould easily make because I need HALF a cup for a recipe! (Cake batter fudge = so worth it)
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at What's Cluckin!
That sure does look delicious and how sweet to include a label! Thank you! I'm going to Google+ this post right now.

ReplyDeleteI could have used this last week! What a great recipe. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! So easy and frugal - love it! I hate when I find a cool pin on Pinterest only to find out it calls for cake mix. Making your own makes sense and makes things a lot easier! Thanks for linking up at Tiny Tip Tuesday, Deana!
