Savory Bread Pudding


Easy Weeknight Dish


Last night I was not in the mood to cook....can you imagine.  I stood staring at my pantry full of can goods hoping dinner would jump up and fix it's self.....A stale loaf of french bread was on the bar.  And I was just about to order a pizza when bread pudding came to mind, and 45 minutes later we had a new favorite recipe.  There are a lot of different ways you could make this dish.  If I had had onion, mushrooms and peppers I would have added them......The great thing about this recipe is you can make it with what ever you have on hand........


Here are the basics to: 
Create your own version
For a 9x9 pan I used 8 cups of bread cubed.
6 eggs and 1 cup of milk with 3 tablespoons of miracle whip.
Add 1 Tablespoon of flour to what ever seasoning you like.
Then add cooked meat and sauteed fresh veggies, canned or frozen veggies, just be sure to drain them well, especially spinach and tomatoes.  Mix it all together top with cheese and bake @350 for 30-40 minutes.

  4. My cookbook calls this strata. It's sooo good! I save old bread in the freezer. When I have enough, it's easy to throw together a scrumptious dinner like this.
