A Greener Home Part 2
My going green plan is saving us a lot of green as in cash....Laminate floor cleaner is $5 a bottle and I have to go to a special store to get it. No more! The four simple ingredients were under my sink already. Who knew....And the best part is it works so much better than the store bought...no streaks....I also found a recipe for carpet stain remover that actually works saving another $5 and reducing the impact on the environment to boot.....
Vinegar is the main ingredient in both of these cleaners. Did you know vinegar is a disinfectant? If the smell bothers you open the window while using. Within 30 minutes all you'll smell is clean.

I make mine very similar but I use lemon and orange oil! I love homemade floor cleaner so much more cost effective! Have a fantastic week!

Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this. We just moved into a house with lots of laminate and I really didn't want to have to buy the store bought special cleaners
ReplyDeleteLove it. I'm going to try!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC! I have only used the vinegar water combo for window cleaning. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is awesome! Will have to try it out!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog on Pinterest, because I was looking up the ratios again :) I want to add a helpful hint I pour vinegar into a mason jar, and whenever I use a lemon, i put the rind in the mason jar. When igo to mix up a batch of floor cleaner, I use this lemon vinegar (straining, of course) and it adds a wonderful natural aroma as I'm cleaning!!
Deletegonna have to try this for sure
ReplyDeletecome see what I shared at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
This is great! I just paid to have my tile floor cleaned and the grout sealed and the guy said to just use vinegar as a floor cleaner so it doesn't strip off the sealant. The grout was never sealed and turned so grey and brown that I had to start all over. I don't want to pay for that service again! I have learned to tolerate the smell of vinegar. I figure if it is going to stink, better to be something not harmful.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely trying this:) I love saving money and going natural at the same time. I am visiting form Friday Shout Out and am now following you. I would love for you to hop over and check out the Linky Followers Blog Hop I am participating in and maybe a follow back.
ReplyDeleteI do not have laminate, but love this post. Thank you so much I will keep it for further reference and pass it along. :) Amee
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post sounds easy enough and budget friendly. Amee
ReplyDeleteDo you mean laminate flooring that looks like wood? The kind you put together yourself? Because that's what we have, and I just use water. I'd love to try something like this on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoppin' by Shiloh.....yes laminate fake wood flooring, the snap together kind thats what I have...the manufactures recommend that you use special spray cleaner. Sometimes a lot of water will make the edges swell and the laminate will peal off.
DeleteThanks so much. I have asthma and get migraines and the commercial cleaning products can set both of these off so I am all for using more natural ingredients. Not to mention these are very cost effective!
ReplyDeleteI clean with vinegar too. The smell is a little strong at first as you said but afterwards everything is clean and fresh. Great post!
ReplyDeleteMy weekly Say G’day Linky Party is on now and I would be so thrilled if you could join in and link up this great post!

ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for sharing this! I was wondering if the pine oil is necessary, or is it just for smell? I'm not really sure where to find it.
ReplyDeleteI bought my essential oil @ GNC stores you can also order it from Puritians Pride or Mountain rose herbs their ads are in my side bar:)
DeleteHave a wonderful day:)
Thanks for sharing this! Just wondering, but is the pine oil for the laminate cleaner just for smell, or does it serve another purpose? I'm not sure where to find pine oil, but I do have a few other essential oils around the house. Could I use lavender, or is there something special about the pine? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi, Diana
DeleteYes, the pine essential oil is just for smell you can use another scent or leave it out. Thanks for stoppin' by:)
Thanks for the reply. Sorry that I commented twice...my internet was having some issues and I didn't think that it went through. I tried this today and it worked great! I used lavender oil, but I think I will add some more to it because it mostly smelled like vinegar. I sprayed this and wiped it up with a swiffer mop, which worked well. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI don't use the pine oil, but use the rest of the recipe and I love it - it's fantastic. I love that it dries so quickly and I use my rubbermaid reveal mop everyday!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness does this stuff work. I wish I knew how to put a picture in my post. I cleaned my dogs rug, which was tan when I bought it and disgustingly brown after a year or so of my dog rolling in the dirt and then rolling around on it. It smelled bad and it looked bad and I was honestly going to throw it away and replace it. I tried this stuff and it looks brand new and the bonus in it was that it entirely eliminated all smells. It smells like nothing. Not bad just like it belongs in someone's house and not in a dog house. Love it thank you so much!
