A Greener Home Part 3
Cleaning the bathrooms is one of my biggest chores with 2 boys and a husband...I need cleaners that work, kill germs and don't make me loopy in the process.....I also don't like to flush all those toxic chemicals down the drain.....not to mention the savings when you make your own. I have found that you can clean the whole bathroom with 4 ingredients, soda, vinegar, alcohol and borax. This post also includes the directions for how to make a wonderful Natural Air-Freshener that works for months........

To clean toilets:
Simply sprinkle on some baking soda and squirt on some vinegar. Allow to set and scrub as usual. I used an empty Parmesan cheese container for the baking soda and a mustard bottle for the vinegar.

Great ideas, thanks for posting! I will have to remember this next time I need to do some bathroom cleaning :-)
ReplyDeleteI will try the air freshener recipe! Awesome idea. I also wonder if the grout recipe might work on those stubborn areas of the general tub area? I need something to help me with a teen boy! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI found your blog via the Homestead Barn Hop this week :) I LOVE DIY cleaners because they're non-toxic and so easy on the wallet, too :) :) Thanks for sharing some of your favorite recipes ;) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for these! I'm pinning them.
ReplyDeleteThis blog of yours looks so inviting and full of goodies. I have just come from Domesblissity in Australia and I'm going to save reading any more until tonight where I can settle in and learn from your hints and recipes. I do not cook much now only essentials. Kind of got over it. Thank you for the time you must put into your posts. I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteLove the container idea for the toilets. I just might have both on hand. I've been reading a book called Down to Earth by Rhonda Hetzel. She suggests having a cleaning "kit" each for the bathroom and kitchen. I had a medium size jug of vinegar, but a mustard squirtee will work sooo much better (and smaller to store as well!).
ReplyDeleteOh cool! I have everything except tea tree oil. I should go get some and try this. We need a good tile cleaner.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! Thanks for sharing!!! Here's a soap scum cleaner that I use and is awesome!

Great ideas! I am excited to use these. I have decided that only cleaners that I like are the expensive ones and I agree with you, I feel like I am getting a little high when I clean. Thanks for the great post. BTW-you have fabulous pictures. Have a happy weekend!
