Hand Puppets

Play Time Pals!
Ralph the dog, Wiggles the pig, Mrs. Kitty and Mr. Mouse would love to come over and play at your house.  All you need is a little fleece a 99cent pattern and your imagination.....Turn this plain store bought pattern into an adorable friend for your little ones.....This would make a great easter basket surprise........We did have a bunny in our collection but he must be hoppin' down the bunny trail because we could not find him anywhere.......

I am never afraid to change a pattern in fact I hardy ever stick to the directions.  Here a just a few things I did differently.

Making it Special:
The first thing I did was to add some dimension by
stuffing the muzzles.  As I zig-zagged them on I stopped about 3/4" from the end(without removing it from the machine) and used a 1/2" wide ruler to stiff in some poly-fill.  Then I hand stitched their mouths and sewed on pom-poms and buttons for noses.  Making a stitch in the corners all the way through and tying a knot, gives it more shape.

I gave the puppy dog a patch on one eye and on his ears.
And the pigs ears are felt.

For the whiskers I used beading thread.  I cut several pieces and threaded them though a large needle.  Then I went in through the outside, tied a knot and hot glued it in place on the inside.  All this was done before sewing on the muzzles.

Instead of wiggly eyes, I used small round buttons with a shank back.  Placing them on after stuffing the head so that I could pull them in tight.  This is tricky, go in and out through the neck hole.

I inserted a pipe cleaner  in to the pigs tail and wrapped around a stick.
Note: Bend the sharp edges up and coat with hot glue.

And last I cut out an oval shape and added it to the body and added some accessories for fun!

Now its time to put on a show!
Because of copyrights I didn't want to add the original pattern cover.  I purchased mine @Hancocks Fabrics when it was on sale for 99 cents.  You can see the original puppet designs here.  This toy has small parts and is not meant for very small children.
