ReplyDeleteOh do these look yummy! I love trying new bread recipes...Thanks so much for sharing at Mix it up Monday :)
ReplyDeleteI swapped 1 cup of the flour with whole wheat, and the rolls were wonderful, nice and fluffy. They disappeared all in one sitting, which I didn't even expect, looking at the amount of the rolls. One concern though: they were sitting in the baking dish for an hour or two until they made to the table, and their bottom was kinda wet when we digged in. Is it normal? Should have I taken them out of the dish before they cooled?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's a keeper, thank you for the recipe.

DeleteHi Ilana thanks for stopping by. I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe. To answer your question I would take them out of the baking dish and place them on a cooling rack if you make them ahead of time. The steam will cause the bottoms to get soggy. And a metal pan will make a better bottom crust than a glass dish will, which will reduce the soggy bottoms:)
ReplyDeleteFYI....I'm working on a whole-wheat roll recipe ....I should have it in the recipe box within the next few weeks, so check back...
Thanks for this delicious recipe! Thanks so much for linking up to "Strut Your Stuff Saturday." We loved having you and hope you'll join us again next week! -The Sisters

ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup for all the lovely recipes. My question is can I freeze the dough just before(the dough would be in the muffin tins) I put them in the oven ?
Chantal
these look just like my grandmother's. I can remember her making them every Sunday with her pot roast and gravy...brings back some of the most blessed moments in my life, thank you so much for post, and a trip down memory lane : )
ReplyDeleteI never tried making bread rolls at home. I thought it's very difficult but after seeing your recipe It worth trying. Thanks for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteLooks good, but what do you mean by "coat them with oil" before you place them in a pan? I am familiar with make the balls, place in pan and then oil the tops or spray oil on the plastic wrap to cover. I'm just a bit confused. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCindy
I place oil in a small bowl and roll the balls in it .......... thats just the way my mother in law taught me and thats the way I do it it isn't imperative that you do it that way.....just as long as the pan and the tops are oiled to prevent sticking. Sorry for the confusion I hope this helps : )
DeleteLove this recipe....I found years ago, eggs in a light dinner roll makes them dry to eat quickly! This recipe stay light a long time. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteDo you bake them in the muffin pan?
ReplyDeleteYou can if you like....the rolls in the photo were baked in a pie pan......you can place two small balls of dough into one muffin pan hole and make pull apart rolls.......hope this helps thanks for stoppin by : )
DeleteJust made them and they are delicious!
