The Best Chocolate Cake

This is "The Best Chocolate Cake" I
have ever made.  This from scratch
recipe reminds me of the one my
Grandma P used to make.  No fancy
expensive chocolate here just good
ol' unsweetened cocoa powder. In
keeping with my recent soda recipe
obsession, this cake has no eggs,
just soda and vinegar for leavening.
and no butter....I know...hard to
believe one of my recipes has no
butter. This cake is so moist and
it has a rich dark chocolate flavor.

The icing is also made with cocoa
powder and its unbelievable!
Hope you all enjoy it as
much as we did:)

  4. You would think you would miss the butter, but I think the oil probably gives this some great moisture - yum! Just pinned this - would love to try for an upcoming b-day!

  10. Oh Deana,
You've found my weakness... chocolate. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. I am looking forward to trying it. I have never made a chocolate cake using baking soda and vinegar as leavening agents alone. I am anxious to try it. Thanks again. Have a great week.
