1.Supplies
3.Tie a loop in the middle of the leather cord (size the loop to fit your button). clip loop to the top of your board(i'm using a quilting square a small clip board would work great) also clip down the 2 tails at the bottom. 4.Thread on 1 bead(slide it to the middle of your thread) and lay it between the 2 leather cords. 5.Then go under the cord and through the bead hole and over the cord on the other side. 6.And do the same with the other needle. Remember to go under the cord on one side and over the cord when you come out on the other side. 7.Thread on the next bead and lay it between the cords and repeat the process. 8.Repeat until you have 25 beads on or 6" of beads. Measure your wrist if you think it should be smaller or larger. 9.At the end go through twice and end both threads on the same side. Tie several knots. You may also add a small dab of glue to ensure it stays secure. 10.The shank on the button needs to be large enough for 2 pieces of cord to fit. 11.Thread on button. 12.Tie the cord under the button. You may use a dab of glue inside the knot here(using a toothpick). Cut the excess leather cord....done:) I got my supplies@ www.artbeads.com |

That is really cute, it's inspiring me to give it another chance. I tried this a few months ago and even though I didn't like the colors so much, it was wearable. However, it was a HUGE pain in the butt!! Don't ever use sinew (was the only thread-like string at the store at the time) as your thread, big mistake, it's WAY to sticky. Your picture tutorial is great, too. I think I need to try it again.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Simple lines, yet complex too.
ReplyDeleteFeaturing this week at Bacon Time.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! (And the lemon tarts in your sidebar look deLISH!)

ReplyDeleteLove this! The color is beautiful and your tutorial is fantastic! Thank you for sharing at Uncommon! Bonnie ;)
ReplyDeleteI pulled it tightly and used glue but my beads are loose and they move back and forth. Any ideas on how to get them to stay in place?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are having trouble Crista.....did you use the thread I used? (Wildfire bead weaving thread .15mm)It really does make a difference.. In step 6 pull the string on the left and right tight after each bead goes on. I hope this helps you....I am planning to make another one soon I'll try to make it a video tutorial.....Let me know if you need any more help:)
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to reply to me and help me out. I used embroidery thread. I'll try Wildfire bead weaving thread. I'll also try pulling the string on the left and right. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat was so nice of you to put my button in your footer! Thanks very much! I have had a lot of visits from it and I appreciate it! I sure love your recipes and link party. From a fellow homeschooler.
ReplyDeleteWoops! I didn't even mention how much I love the Celtic bracelet! So gorgeous, reminds me of the book of Kells. Great job and I appreciate the instructions!
ReplyDeleteI saw your link on WOW! I love these bracelets and wondered if you have a shop or sell them. I sew and make bags but I don't make jewelry....but oh how I love it! These bracelets are just what I like to wear! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment......I am working on an Etsy Store. I'm hoping to have it open in a month or so, check back : )
DeleteHi there Country Momma! Love your bracelet it is wonderful! I adore anything with a western theme! Your tutorial is wonderful too! I would love it if you would add my Farmgirl Friday button to your linky party page! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe green colors of the beads is gorgeous, Irish or not. Looks like jade, very pretty. I've been looking at all these tutorials for this type of bracelet and have just got to try it. Have to see what I have in my stash so I don't have to go buy stuff first, try it. Would like to surprise granddaughters by making some for them. Would also like to find something I could make to sell to support my crafting.
